Leaking to the press about their intentions to resign if goverment policies are
not to their liking is if not exactly dictating, than at least trying to influce
in an under-hand manner.
If the buggers want to go, fine. But why leak to the press?
I may have been a little strong in my criticism, but the military has no place
in policy making. They can advise, and even threaten to resign in private, but
leaking to the press about their intentions to resign to try and force a
government not to adopt a policy not to its liking is going beyond the accepted
norms.
As for why I went over the top, you've never heard the thin end of the wedge?
